Have your sales staff do up sells by encouraging them – Up selling is adding extra related items to a product or service in order to make something more convenient and needed for the customer to buy the item or service. Make customers feel important by giving them an inside scoop on a product – Often times customers will really appreciate feeling like they are being treated special if a sales person notices their interest in an item and they know that perhaps the item is going on sale the following week. There are a lot of ways in which you can make a regular customer feel special. One simple way is to know them by name and make sure you greet them by name each time they come in. You also can give them special discounts that “other” customers simply don't get. Be creative and think of a variety of things that you can do for your regular customers that you don't do for others.

Even if you are a small business, it doesn't mean that you can't have this kind of program for your return customers. It can be as little as a discount on their birthday or as complicated as a points system that gives them different rewards like discounted merchandise. If this is done correctly it will build the loyalty of your customer base and definitely increase sales.
Hand out free samples to your customers – Handing out free samples can increase sales in a lot of different ways. It can encourage your customers to try new things, or they might pass the samples onto their family and friends which could drive in business and so on. In the end, all people appreciate something free and even if they don't buy something at the time they are there, they will have good thoughts about your company because of it.
