How to Increase Sales for Your Business

Are you looking for a dramatic way to increase sales for your business? Then you will need to figure out a way to shift your focus from attracting new customers to actually enticing your return and proven customers to buy again and again. Your best sales prospect is one that is already your current customer.

Here are a few ways in which you can increase sales and build your customer loyalty at the same time.

Consider setting up a sales incentive program – Consider giving your salespeople a reason to go out there and sell, sell, and sell more. If you are wondering why a lot of businesses are successful it's because they offer their salespeople trips, TVs and more to give them an incentive to work even harder for you.

Have your sales staff do up sells by encouraging them – Up selling is adding extra related items to a product or service in order to make something more convenient and needed for the customer to buy the item or service. Just putting these extra items near the product for sale is not going to help much. For it to be successful, your salesperson must be able to persuade the customer that it's important they buy it.

Make customers feel important by giving them an inside scoop on a product – Often times customers will really appreciate feeling like they are being treated special if a sales person notices their interest in an item and they know that perhaps the item is going on sale the following week. What you can do is instruct your sales person to let them know the item is going on sale and perhaps they'd like to come back when it has been discounted. They will come back and more than likely bring a few friends with them as well.

Make sure to tier your customers – This means there needs to be a distinct difference between regular customers and “other” customers. There are a lot of ways in which you can make a regular customer feel special. One simple way is to know them by name and make sure you greet them by name each time they come in. You also can give them special discounts that “other” customers simply don't get. Be creative and think of a variety of things that you can do for your regular customers that you don't do for others.

Consider setting up a customer rewards program – You want to increase sales? A good way of doing that is to come up with a special “customer rewards program”. Even if you are a small business, it doesn't mean that you can't have this kind of program for your return customers. It can be as little as a discount on their birthday or as complicated as a points system that gives them different rewards like discounted merchandise. If this is done correctly it will build the loyalty of your customer base and definitely increase sales.

Hand out free samples to your customers – Handing out free samples can increase sales in a lot of different ways. It can encourage your customers to try new things, or they might pass the samples onto their family and friends which could drive in business and so on. In the end, all people appreciate something free and even if they don't buy something at the time they are there, they will have good thoughts about your company because of it.
